857 SEK Frankfurt am Main

The Frankfurt am Main special police unit (SEK – Spezialeinsatzkommando) was officially founded in 1974. On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, Sinn Spezialuhren and the SEK Frankfurt am Main have come together to develop the SEK 857 SEK Frankfurt am Main special-operations watch.

Forty years and counting: SEK Frankfurt am Main decided to mark the occasion with a special watch. To develop the watch, SEK Frankfurt am Main, which has earned an exceptional reputation throughout and beyond Germany, turned to Sinn Spezialuhren without hesitation. After all, Sinn Spezialuhren is also highly respected throughout the world, particularly for its timepieces developed purely with the specific functionality and operational requirements in mind. Close collaboration was therefore an obvious solution. The two Frankfurt institutions also have a close association with the city of Frankfurt am Main. This is expressed symbolically on the dial of the special watch with an adapted coat of arms of the SEK – the Frankfurt eagle and sword.

The operational requirements formulated by SEK members through a specifications book and implemented by Sinn Spezialuhren served as the technical basis for the development of the 857 SEK Frankfurt am Main special edition. The case is made of bead-blasted stainless steel and has a diameter of 43 mm. The surface was hardened with TEGIMENT Technology, ensuring that the case is scratch-resistant. The range of features also includes Ar-Dehumidifying Technology for greater functional reliability and freedom from fogging as well as magnetic field protection of up to 80,000 A/m. The rotating captive pilot’s bezel with minute ratcheting is securely connected to the case. The watch is fitted with high-quality sapphire crystal glass, pressure-resistant to 20 bar (= 200 m water depth) and resistant to low pressure.

The 857 SEK Frankfurt am Main special edition was created on a one-off basis and was not freely available for purchase. As an unofficial piece of equipment, it was available exclusively to active or former SEK members.
